I've moved...

I apologize for not updating this site in, like, forever. I started covering (reporting on) the Columbus Blue Jackets for The Hockey Writers, a website based in Montreal, Canada, last year and was promoted to Associate Editor in May 2009. To say that I'm busy would be the understatement of the year. Please stop by and peruse the offerings we have at The Hockey Writers. You'll find not only CBJ coverage, but stories on all 30 teams, Minor League, Olympics, etc.
Cheers

The Netherworld

Been feeling that way lately. Some things you can control. Some things you can't. It's frustrating; believe me, I know. All I can say is that you have to embrace it every now and then. Well, some of you might get a little too cozy with it, but it can't be helped. The mouse on a wire wheel metaphor comes to mind. Go with it. If life gives you lemons, pick them up and throw them right back. Aim Low. No kindness here. No quarter given. Thus endeth the sermon.
Ciao.

As the daze going speeding by...

Jeez louize... I turn my back for what I thought was only a moment and February turned into March. Things & life have been, like, totally insane lately. Between working at both fire dept and writing for The Hockey Writers, I lost track of posting to this blog. For that, I apologize.

Being a fireman is, well, like being a fireman; although I haven't saved any catz yet this year. I tend to geet assigned to wheeling the Engine and Rescue trucks. It seems to be what I'm good at. And the music blog, Cheap Gas Music, is moving along with about one post a week. I wish that I had time to do more.

Hunter is coming out in April, Woo Hoo!!!!! I'm definately looking forward to that. All three of the kidz will be here this summer. Anyway, I'll try to be more diligent about keeping you updated from now on.

Ciao.

We haven't spoke in a while, have we? Well, here's what's happenin' in my little world.

I got a gig writing for http://thehockeywriters.com and it's pretty cool. New title: Professional Sports Writer. I like it! I'll be posting columns there approx 2x a week.

Also trying to keep up with this blog as well as http://cheapgasmusic.wordpress.com; great music there! Be sure to check it out.

Work is as always keeping me busy. I'm definately looking forward to April (my sons spring break) as Hunter will be here and we'll probably go to North Carolina to visit my sister, who just moved there from AZ.

Ciao.

Jackson Pollock

On this day, January 28th, 1912, Jackson Pollock was born. Considered by many a major force in the abstract expressionist movement, he was my favorite painter and an inspiration. He died August 11th, 1956. He would have been 97 today.
Happy Birthday, Jackson.
Ciao.

Dear NHL and NHL Oficials...

"The signal shown is that of a "Misconduct" penalty. This is for either a Misconduct, Game Misconduct, or Gross Misconduct of any kind. The referee will place both hands on the side of his hips."
This was the call that should have been made when Dorsett ate the stick last night.

Ciao.

I had to share...

Great article in The Hockey News about the Mase!!!

Blue Jackets, Part II

The second half of the season is here...
The kids are on a roll...
An All-Star goalie...
The vets are stepping up...
This is the stuff of LEGENDS!!!

In preparation for tomorrow night's game...

You left us.
You have no sense of "loyalty"...
To your team-mates,
To your club,
But most importantly...
To your fans in Cowtown.

Another Win !!!

First Blue Jacket rookie with a HAT TRICK !!! And with that, the Jackets win another one against the Wild, 4-2. That jumps us ahaead of Minnesota by a point and just one back from the Avs, who we play on Tuesday. The MASE-onator was his usual strong self in goal again tonight. There's talk of Mase not only in the running for the Calder & Vezina Trophies, but The Hockey News had this to say, http://www.thehockeynews.com/articles/22272-THNcom-Blog-Steve-Mason-becoming-NHLs-story-of-the-season.html

Carry The Flag !!!

The MASE-onator strikes again!!!

He did it again. Shutout. 45 saves. All after he was a 50/50 game time desicion to start in goal. Calder Trophy? Vezina Trophy? I say both. The All-Star snub not-withstanding, this kid is the best goalie in the league right now. And he's all ours!!!

Carry The Flag!!!

Bad Tooth!!!

I had a tooth pulled today, so I'm not doing a whole lot of talking. Surfing and getting ready to watch the Blue Jackets play. That's about it.
I hate getting a tooth pulled. Really.

Belated Birthday... (My Bad)

My bad... I forgot to write about Elvis' birthday yesterday. He would have been 74. I watched Roustabout and Viva Las Vegas yesterday. Great movies. Great music. He is still missed.

Happy Birthday, Elvis!!!

The REAL reason we go to games

*** Update ***

Surprise, surprise!!! Mase got snubbed for the All-Star game. Nasher got in (kudos). Mase is HUGE in goal for us. He has forced teams we play against to plan for him as well as Nash. This years A.S. game has reached new heights in contrived "All-Stars". The All-Star game should be a showcase for the leagues BEST players, not the most popular ones.

Mase !!!

Number 1 in your programs and number one in your hearts!!! Steve Mason is the reason this team is sitting where it's at in regards to the playoff picture. He gives this team a chance to win every time he steps on the ice. This kid (I can call him a kid... he's only 20!) has the heart of a lion and the hockey smarts and vision of a very veteran player in this league. He doesn't seem to let anything bother him. He also doesn't allow too many "sloppy" goals.
Somehow, I'm pretty sure he'll get snubbed for the All-Star game (the "game" is a joke anyway). He's my leading candidate for the Calder Trophy aand if he keeps playing at this pace, he'll be my candidate for the Vezina Trophy as well.
Carry The Flag !!!

Tough Loss...

... Against a very hungry St. Louis Blues team. They hadn't won in a while and it showed. What also showed was the fact that we have a depleted team due to injuries. That, and the fact of playing three games in four nights (not an excuse, just an observation) didn't help matters any. It takes a team to win and also to lose. Put this one in the memory banks and move on. Red Wings on Tuesday, so geet your rest guys!!!

More Pics...

New year, new pics

Another year has come and gone, along with another trip to the Buckeye from my kids. Xmas was a blast, as always with them. Two days later we celebrated Paiges' birthday. And the next day we all went to Nationwide Arena for the Harlem Globetrotters game. They were wide eyed, as they had never been in an arena that big.

The CBJ are on a tear right now behind the amazing goaltending of rookie Steve Mason. They play tonight in Colorado, going for four wins in a row. Carry the Flag !!!

My team, Chelsea FC, are second on the tables of the Premiership. C'mon Chelsea!!!
